ALEXANDRIA, VA – Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is continuing kindergarten registration for the 2026-27 school year for all ACPS elementary schools. The registration process officially opened on April 15, 2026, and families are encouraged to complete registration early to help ensure schools are fully staffed and prepared to support students in the upcoming academic year.

Families can visit the ACPS new student registration webpage to confirm that their child meets the age requirements and review the documents needed to complete registration.

Parents and guardians are also encouraged to use the attendance zone locator tool to determine which school their child will attend. ACPS notes that new attendance boundaries will take effect for the upcoming school year, making it important for families to verify their assigned school before registering.

Open Houses Continue Throughout May

Kindergarten and elementary school open houses began in April and will continue throughout May. These events give families an opportunity to meet school staff, learn more about programs and services, and become familiar with their child’s future school community.

Additional details about open houses and kindergarten registration can be found on each school’s website and through the ACPS website.

Registration Support Available in Multiple Languages

Families should complete the online student registration form for the 2026-27 school year, which became available on April 15, 2026. ACPS offers support in the top five languages spoken throughout the division to help families navigate the registration process.

Families with questions or technical issues are encouraged to contact the registrar at their child’s boundary school for assistance.

After submitting the online registration form, families must schedule an appointment with the school registrar to present the required documents in person and finalize the registration process.

For more information and to register, families should visit the ACPS registration webpage.
