Meet Carmello: This Shy Tabby Cat Is Looking for a Home

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Carmello is a 7-year old male tabby cat who needs to find a home! Sadly, he hasn’t been adopted as quickly as our other kitties because he’s more aloof and shy when he meets new people. His favorite spot is his kitty bed (behind his security blanket) because that’s where he feels the safest. He is inquisitive, but prefers to keep track of what’s going on from his own corner of the world. He prefers visitors that don’t come on too strong at first. Carmello does warm up to new people, but it takes him time, which not every visitor can give him. He needs a patient best friend who can give him the space he needs to be comfortable. Once he’s acclimated, we know he’ll be a great couch cuddler and companion.

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) is located at 4101 Eisenhower Ave. Founded in 1946, the AWLA has supported and served as a resource for homeless animals. The organization remains an integral part of the community by providing opportunities for adoption, spay and neuter assistance, education, and outreach. To learn more, visit alexandriaanimals.org.
