ALEXANDRIA, VA — There are plenty of places to dine in Alexandria. Fewer where the view makes you stay.

At Jula’s on the Potomac, the draw is immediate — sweeping, panoramic views of the Potomac River that shift throughout the day, from bright, easy mornings to golden-hour sunsets that stop conversations mid-sentence.

Now, the Old Town North waterfront restaurant is leaning into that experience with expanded Sunday hours, now open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., creating a full-day destination built around brunch, cocktails, and unhurried dining.

“We’ve always believed the setting should be part of the experience,” said owner Jula Coggins. “Sundays felt like the perfect opportunity to let people slow down, enjoy the view, and really settle in — whether that’s for brunch, a glass of wine, or dinner as the sun goes down.”

Perched at 44 Canal Center Plaza, Jula’s offers a range of dining spaces designed to highlight its waterfront setting, from its Riverfront Dining Room to a terrace overlooking the water and a central circular bar that anchors the space. The restaurant blends upscale design with a relaxed, social energy that works just as well for a casual brunch as it does for a special night out.

The menu reflects a modern American, chef-driven approach, with an emphasis on fresh seafood, prime steaks, and seasonal dishes. Brunch offerings and shareable plates encourage guests to linger, while a robust beverage program features crafted cocktails, reserve wines, and champagne selections.

In the kitchen, the chef approaches each dish like a work of art, sending out plates so polished and visually stunning they could land on the cover of any food magazine. “It’s not just about what’s on the plate,” Coggins says. “It’s how everything comes together — the food, the people, and that view of the river. That’s what makes it special.”

Jula’s is open Tuesday through Sunday, with weekday lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. and dinner service extending into the evening — until 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Weekend brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Saturdays extending into late-night dining and Sundays now offering a full, uninterrupted experience from morning through evening. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.

For Alexandria diners, the change is simple but meaningful: more time to enjoy one of the city’s most scenic dining spots — and a reason to let Sunday unfold at its own pace.
