When an author you know is alive, but starts a memoir with the very powerful sentence, “On the day I died, I was a 30-year-old divorced mother of two boys,” you’re instantly drawn into their story and wonder what it is like on death’s doorstep. Lambert added when asked about her near-death experience, “Being that close to death and being outside of my body changed me forever. Yet what isn’t fully detailed in my book is just as important as what is. In that place between life and eternity, Jesus didn’t only rescue me—He opened my eyes…”

The University of Virginia’s School of Medicine says out-of-body and near-death experiences lead to profound psychological transformations, including increased empathy and emotional connectivity. Empathy is a fundamental aspect of human interaction that allows individuals to connect deeply with others, fostering trust and understanding. With Lambert, that connection is enhanced through her faith. Lambert stated, “Those encounters remain my constant reminder to live with purpose—to love deeply, forgive quickly, and walk closely with God. Because when my final breath comes, I want to awaken in heaven, not in hell. That conviction compels me to keep sharing my story—not to frighten, but to warn and to offer hope.” In this beautifully penned, engrossing, and inspirational account, Lambert shares her astonishing story of two near-death experiences—one that pulled her into the flames of hell where Satan tried to claim her soul, and another where Jesus carried her into heaven and revealed prophetic end-of-times visions.

Lambert’s work focuses on Jesus Christ and Christianity in fighting evil, but the message resonates to other religions that fight for souls to reach their heaven, Valhalla, or in the case of Hindu, liberation from the cycle of death. Lambert stated, “I respect that people all over the world desire answers about life after death, and that many faiths offer their own visions of eternity. What I can share with complete honesty is that my story is not based on study, theory, or theology—it comes from lived experience. Twice, I stood on the edge of eternity. Twice, I encountered the reality of Jesus Christ’s saving power, who revealed Himself to me… our common ground is this: every soul knows, deep inside, that there is more to life than we realize. My message—and the reason for this book—is to say that afterlife and eternity both exist, and after physical death, there is heaven or hell.” Regardless of religious denomination, there is plenty of content to fuel self-reflection. Or a wake-up call: life tomorrow is not guaranteed. Our choices stay with us for eternity. While near-death encounters are terrifying, new hope often blossoms, and courage to face struggles emerges. Compassion and forgiveness are stronger than hate and evil.
