Alexandria, VA – The National 9-11 Pentagon Memorial will close for eight months beginning Sept. 16, 2019, for lighting repairs and construction, according to the Pentagon. The memorial will reopen in May 2020.

“This project will also replace the entire electrical system at the Pentagon Memorial, including all of the bench lighting, as well as the entire electrical conduit that feeds power to the light fixtures,” states a Department of Defense release.

The memorial bench area will close on Sept. 16, and the Memorial Gateway entrance to the memorial will remain open until Nov. 16.
