Alexandria, VA – There’s a new-fangled grocery store in the West End called Lidl, which held its grand opening on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The store at 6548 Little River Turnpike is a little different than the grocery stores you with. For example, you better bring your own bag because Lidl does not offer any paper or plastic sacks.

“Lidl is not your cookie-cutter grocery store. We’re revolutionizing grocery shopping. We have a less complicated process that allows us to simply deliver low prices, high quality, and the best shopping experience for our customers,” says the company.

All their stores have the exact same layout so, seen one, seen ’em all is no joke. They also carry more than just food. “We aim to surprise and delight our customers with a diversified product assortment that changes every Wednesday. You’ll find anything from essentials for the home, such as small appliances or kitchen gadgets, to stylish gear for the whole family, to toys and power tools, to home décor and gardening supplies, and much more.”

The German-based business has been around since 1973 and in 2015 opened its U.S. headquarters in Arlington, VA. The West End store is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and features most of its own private-label offerings.
