Alexandria Tops GoFundMe’s List of Most Generous Cities in 2020

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Today, GoFundMe, the world’s leading fundraising platform, released its annual Giving Report which includes a list of the most generous states and cities in America. Alexandria is the sixth most generous city for supporting individuals, causes and organizations this year.

This year marked ten years of GoFundMe. In the report, the company announced that over the past decade,150 million donations have been made to support individuals, causes and organizations across the globe. The report also highlights global data and company milestones from a decade of giving on GoFundMe.

The report also includes 2020 trends and the year’s most notable moments ranging from COVID-19 support and racial justice to wildfire and hurricane relief. In the report the company states, “It’s important to remember that we’re our best when we come together. As we look toward 2021 and enter the next decade of giving, we can build a more caring world and inspire hope for a better tomorrow.”

  2. New York
  3. Oregon
  4. Washington
  5. Vermont
  6. Connecticut
  7. California
  8. Rhode Island
  9. Colorado
  10. Minnesota

The most generous cities in America, based on the number of donations per capita on GoFundMe, are:

  1. Silver Spring, MD
  2. Spring, TX
  3. Marietta, GA
  4. Alpharetta, GA
  5. Fort Lauderdale, FL
  6. Alexandria, VA
