ALEXANDRIA, VA-Late yesterday, Gov. Ralph S. Northam ordered the lowering of the U.S. flag and the Commonwealth flag to half-mast over the state Capitol and all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds.

The order comes after last Wednesday’s violence at the U.S. Capitol and the five lives lost as a result.

Effective until sunset, Wednesday, Jan. 13, it is a sign of respect for the service and sacrifice of U.S. Capitol Police Officers Brian D. Sicknick and Howard Leibengood, and all Capitol Police Officers.

The order is pursuant to a Presidential Proclamation.

  2. I think half staff is correct. Half mast is on a boat. Please correct me if I’m wrong
