Alexandria, VA –  In its nightly email, the city continues to urge residents to stay at home, unless going out is essential. And when out, they stress the importance of maintaining six feet of distance around others.

Alexandria and its Health Department announced today that testing for the coronavirus will take place on Monday, May 25 at two locations from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.

Drive-through and walk-up testing will be available at Landmark Mall (5801 Duke St.; enter from Van Dorn St.). Walk-up testing only will be available at Cora Kelly School for Math, Science and Technology (3600 Commonwealth Ave.)

Testing is free for anyone over the age of two. The primary purpose for these events is to test community members who have not been tested previously. Everyone who chooses to attend is asked to wear a face covering.

These events will not require doctor referrals, appointments, or identification. Spanish, Arabic, and Amharic translators will be available on-site.

According to the Alexandria Health Department, Monday’s testing will not detect antibodies and is not intended for people who have already tested positive. Have questions? Please call 703-746-4988.

  1. I’m glad this is finally happening but is it first come first serve? There is no clarity on the city website about how this will be managed. If not it will likely be a massed crowd/line at Cora Kelly.

  2. Will the test show antibodies for Covid-19 if you were previously sick in March & didn’t have all the typical symptoms?

  3. There is no option on the health dept menu to retrieve this info, and no one is answering at that phone number.
