Senior Services of Alexandria Participates in the Subaru Share the Love Event Supporting Meals on Wheels

Alexandria, VA – The Subaru “Share the Love” Campaign is in its fourteenth year supporting Meals on Wheels America and local Meals on Wheels programs, including Senior Services of Alexandria, and bringing awareness to the issues of hunger and isolation affecting homebound older adults.

From November 18, 2021, through January 3, 2022, with every new Subaru purchased or leased at one of more than 600 participating Subaru retailers nationwide, including Beyer Subaru of Alexandria, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s choice of charities*. The customer may choose to direct the donation to four national partner charities: The ASPCA®, Make-A-Wish®, Meals on Wheels America, and the National Park Foundation.

When choosing Meals on Wheels America as your charity, you will also support SSA’s work in the community in delivering Meals on Wheels daily to over 250 older adults every year and making “friendly visits” to more than 75 Alexandria seniors.

“The Share the Love Campaign is an opportunity to bring awareness during the holiday season of the hardships that many older adults face in receiving proper nutrition and combatting social isolation, said Mary Lee Anderson, Executive Director of Senior Services of Alexandria. We are fortunate to live in such a giving community and are grateful to the support from the community and Subaru of Alexandria during this annual campaign.”

SSA is participating in a glove/mitten drive for its Meals on Wheels clients during December in connection with the Share the Love Campaign. If you are interested in donating new adult-sized gloves or mittens, please drop your donation at SSA’s Office at 206 N. Washington Street, Suite 301, from November 30 – December 15.
