Pat Malone's Ninth Annual Stand Up To Cancer® (SU2C) 24-Hour Fundraiser is February 10 and 11, 2023
Arlington, VA – Patrick J. “Pat” Malone, a nine-year cancer survivor and twenty-year Air Force veteran, will ‘stand up to cancer’ for twenty-four hours straight during his Ninth Annual Stand Up To Cancer® (SU2C) 24-Hour Fundraiser, beginning at 4:26 p.m. on Friday, February 10, and ending at 4:26 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Fire Works American, at Pizzeria & Bar, 2350 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington, VA 22201.
The official kickoff for this fundraiser will commence in front of Fire Works American Pizzeria & Bar at 4:26 p.m. on Friday, February 10. The official commencement of the event will occur inside Fire Works at 4:26 p.m. on Saturday, February 11. After seven consecutive hours of surgery on February 11, 2014, Malone woke up in post-op at 4:26 p.m. that afternoon, hence the annual fundraiser’s unique start and finish time.
Pat Malone will be available for interviews, photographs, and videos before, during, and after this event.
Malone underwent successful surgery for an exceedingly rare form of cancer, Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor (MPNST), nearly nine years ago, on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), in Bethesda, Maryland, and with twenty-nine subsequent bouts of radiation at the Radiation Oncology Clinic, at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (FBCH), Fort Belvoir, Virginia in 2014, as well.
After almost nine years since his surgery, Malone is in good health, cancer-free, and living in Alexandria, Virginia.
Additionally, Malone selected Stand Up To Cancer® to annually ‘pay it forward’ on the anniversary of his surgery to honor the doctors, nurses, and medical technicians at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland and the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Virginia who saved his life and the countless lives of other armed forces members, civilians, and their dependents.
One hundred percent of all donations made to Stand Up To Cancer® during this fundraiser will go directly to the frontlines of cancer research to eliminate the dreaded disease.
