Alexandria, VA – First Thursday returns to Del Ray on Thursday, April 6, with the theme “A Cherry Blossom Celebration.” The monthly street festival is free and open to all from 6 pm to dusk along Mount Vernon Avenue.

In April, celebrate spring and the cherry blossoms with live music by Mars Rodeo, a scavenger hunt with clues in hand-painted windows with cherry blossom themes along Mount Vernon Avenue, children’s activities, and more. Participants are encouraged to bring individually wrapped children’s snacks and juice boxes for the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Boys & Girls Club. Donations will be collected at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square, located at the intersection of Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues.

The Del Ray Business Association also announced the summer’s complete line-up of First Thursdays:

  • April 6: A Cherry Blossom Celebration
  • May 4: Dog Days in Del Ray
  • June 1: Every Pitch Counts
  • July 6: Red, White, and Brew
  • August 3: Del Ray’s Country Music Showdown
  • September 7: Star Wars Day in a Neighborhood Far, Far Away

Held the first Thursday from April to September along Mount Vernon Avenue in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, First Thursday is a series of free outdoor street festivals that bring the community together around a fun theme and benefit a local nonprofit. The April First Thursday is sponsored by the Del Ray Business Association and Ting. For more information, go to visitdelray.com.
