Beer abounds in Carlyle Crossing and Shirlington
New beer halls are opening with doughnuts and pizza
Alexandria, VA It’s the time of year for beer. Astro Beer Hall is now open at 4001 Campbell Ave. in Shirlington. Childhood friends Elliot Spaisman and Jeff Halpern from Montgomery County played hockey for the Washington Capitals while sharing their love for American comfort food. The result was Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken, a restaurant and beer hall featuring doughnuts and fried chicken.
The new location echoes the menu of the original with doughnuts, sandwiches, and beer. The kitchen offers breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner. The menu includes fried chicken and bar bites like deviled eggs, fried pickles, loaded tots. The full-service all-day coffee counter serves Compass Coffee accompanied by fresh made doughnuts and breakfast sandwiches.
Atlas Brew Works is coming to Carlyle Crossing at 2501 Mandeville Lane. The 10-year-old Ivy City brewery is creating its third facility, a 2,000-barrel production facility and tap room. They even offer a gluten free hard cider. The patio and tap room will have 16 draft lines including six core Atlas beers. Andy’s Pizza continues its collaboration with Atlas and will provide New York style slices. According to their website, “We make crave-worthy artisanal beer in a variety of styles at our facilities.”
