City of Alexandria Begins Parking Enforcement Program to Help Police, ‘Make Parking Easier’ in Old Town
ALEXANDRIA, VA-If you travel around Old Town today, you might see something different. No, it’s not a new store or restaurant. The City of Alexandria has started a new parking enforcement pilot program.
WUSA9 first reported this morning (Dec. 27) that the intent of the program, which began today, “is to make parking and travel easier in Old Town.” It indicates “the purpose is to streamline parking in this corridor and offer police some assistance.”
To ensure the program runs smoothly, the city hired third-party contractors from Reimagine Parking. They can be identified by their yellow vests explicitly stating that they are city contractors. The workers will also wear a company-issued shirt and carry a company-issued ID.
Enforcement will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday. The workers’ primary focus is King St., constantly one of the busiest places in Alexandria.
Contractors are not authorized to tow vehicles, relocate, or boot them.
The duration of this pilot program has not been disclosed.
