ABOUT THE SHOW: Based on the real life story of Dewey Phillips, a Memphis-based DJ with a penchant for black music, MEMPHIS highlights the early struggle of black artists and their fight to be heard. Set in 1950’s Memphis, Tennessee, the show focuses on the relationship between disc jockey, Huey Calhoun and Felicia, the black singing sensation of club owner, Delray. This play includes adult themes and language (equivalent to a PG13 rating). Running time is estimated at 2 hours and 30 minutes, including intermission.
