Alexandria, VA – This year’s Subaru Share the Love Campaign is in full gear. Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA) and Beyer Subaru are again community partners working together to bring awareness to senior hunger. Over the past 17 years, Subaru has supported Meal on Wheels both at the national and local level. More than $32 million dollars have been donated to Meals on Wheels America and local charities, including SSA. Another amazing statistic is that more than 4.6 million meals have been delivered along with friendly visits to homebound seniors.

During the month of December to January 2, Beyer Subaru, located on 7416 Richmond Highway in Alexandria, will donate $300 to a charity of your choice including Meals on Wheels with the purchase or lease of a new Subaru. SSA is also hosting a blanket drive for our homebound seniors at the Subaru showroom and at our office, which is located at 206 N. Washington Street, Suite 301. Please donate any blankets by December 15.

City of Alexandria’s “Age Friendly” Plan
Wednesday, January 15, 2025 – 10:30 am
Beatley Central Library, 5005 Duke Street
Senior Services of Alexandria’s January Speaker Series will feature members from the City’s Commission on Aging talking about the updated “Age Friendly” plan for the city’s older residents. In 2017, the City of Alexandria was accepted in the AARP/World Health Organization Network of Age-Friendly Communities. The plan, “A Livable Community for all Ages,” is being updated to reflect current needs of our older residents. At this session on January 15, we want to hear from the community about what you feel is important to support older adults living in Alexandria, and how to keep our city a livable community for all ages!
The event is free and open to the public. We ask that you register by emailing [email protected] or call 703-836-4414, ext. 110.
