Candelight Vigil Planned in Alexandria to Remember Crash Victims

Tonight at 5:30 p.m. in Rivergate Park

ALEXANDRIA, VA-In an announcement yesterday, Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA) said a candlelight vigil is planned to honor the lives lost in the tragic airline accident over the Potomac a week ago.

The vigil will occur this evening (Feb. 5) at 5:30 p.m. in Rivergate Park. (2 Montgomery St.). Candles will be provided but attendees are welcome to bring their own.

“As our community remains deeply saddened by this tragedy, this candlelight vigil will allow us to come together in remembrance of the lives we lost and offer our collective support to the families, friends, and loved ones directly impacted,” Beyer wrote.

Sixty-seven lives were lost in the accident, the first major airline disaster in the country since 2009.

Help is available for people directly and indirectly impacted by the accident. Beyer’s announcement contains a link to mental health resources. Free and confidential support is available by dialing or texting 9-8-8
