ALEXANDRIA, VA — Movie lovers and golf fans alike will find something to cheer for this weekend at the Alexandria Film Festival, where The Short Game—a touching story about family, faith, and perseverance—screens Friday, November 7, at 2:15 p.m. at the Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library.

The film follows Jeremy, a talented high school golfer determined to earn a scholarship to a top university. But when his family faces a crisis, and he takes on caring for his younger brother Ethan—who has autism—Jeremy’s dream begins to unravel. A tragic accident puts everything on the line, forcing him to discover that there’s far more to winning golf than long drives and low scores.

Beautifully acted and deeply heartfelt, The Short Game shines as a story of love, loyalty, and the moments that matter most. It’s the kind of film that reminds audiences why sports stories move us—not just for the victories on the course, but for the resilience behind them.
