Looking for a Job? Alexandria Hosts Free Hiring & Public Service Event, Monday, January 19

City agencies, employers, nonprofit partners, and the Alexandria Police Department come together Monday to connect residents with jobs, training, and service careers.

Poster for Alexandria Job Fair Blue and redALEXANDRIA, VA -The Alexandria hiring event Building the Dream Together takes place Monday, January 19, bringing residents face-to-face with employers, public service recruiters, and workforce development partners offering pathways to meaningful employment.

Held in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s call to collective action and opportunity, the free community service and hiring event is convened by the City of Alexandria in partnership with the Alexandria Police Department, nonprofit organizations, and local businesses.

More than 200 community members have already registered to attend, reflecting strong interest in job opportunities, training, and careers in public service.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with employers, learn about career paths within City government and partner organizations, and explore service-oriented professions that strengthen Alexandria. Representatives from multiple sectors will be available to discuss current openings, qualifications, and next steps.

The Alexandria Police Department will be on site, conducting on-the-spot assessments for new police officers, offering qualified candidates a direct, accessible entry point into a career in public safety and community policing.

In addition to hiring opportunities, attendees will hear from recruiters and panelists who will provide practical, skills-based guidance on navigating today’s job market, including mastering the interview process, crafting an effective elevator pitch, and building a personal brand.

Community members may drop in or register in advance via e-vite.
