Jay Lawrence “Larry” Hirsch, Accomplished Architect and Builder, Dies at 71

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Jay Lawrence “Larry” Hirsch, 71, of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on December 31, 2025, after facing a rare cancer with courage and grace for more than three years.
Larry was born on May 16, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marciene Hirsch. Larry married his beloved bride, Kathy Sue Blann, on September 25, 1982, in Arlington, Virginia.
Larry attended Virginia Tech, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in architecture in 1978. He went on to become an accomplished and prolific builder and architect in Alexandria, Virginia, and St. Thomas, U.S.V.I., with a reach that extended far beyond these communities through mentorship, lifelong friendships, and the lasting impact of his work.
He loved traveling, boating, live music, and playing with dogs.
Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Jennifer; his son, Andrew; his brother, Kenneth; and his black Labrador, Archie.
