Alexandria, VA — The Mount Vernon Springfield Chamber of Commerce rolled out the red carpet for local standouts at its 2026 The Best in Business Awards last month, celebrating the businesses and leaders who keep the community thriving. The luncheon was sponsored by Stout & Teague Co.
Opening the event, Chairman Mark Viani of Bean, Kinney & Korman PC praised the resilience of local businesses and their lasting impact on the region. Vice Chair Marissa Eyon of FASTSIGNS Springfield emphasized that the awards go beyond the bottom line to recognize businesses’ integrity, community engagement, innovation, and investment in the people and places around them.
A feather in the cap of Hollin Hall Village, The Cut Butchery earned Best New Business of the Year. In just one year, The Cut has built a loyal following as a trusted source for high-quality meats and locally sourced products. Its commitment to craftsmanship, strong customer relationships, and community involvement helped it stand out among nominees.
Also honored was Unwined Alexandria, named BEST Small Business of the Year. Since opening in 2004, Unwined has become a neighborhood favorite known for its carefully curated selection, personalized service, and welcoming vibe. The business has grown steadily while preserving the friendly, local feel that defines a true small business success story.
Other major awards included:
- BEST Large Business of the Year: ServiceMaster National Capital Restoration, recognized for nearly 40 years of serving Northern Virginia families and businesses during challenging times.
- BEST Mid-Sized Business of the Year: Springfield Town Center, honored as a retail anchor and community gathering place.
- BEST Nonprofit Organization of the Year: AUSA – Potomac Liberty Chapter, for its support of soldiers, veterans, and military families through scholarships and outreach.
Individual leadership was also recognized. Dan LaMay of Dan’s Van Lines received the Chamber Citizen of the Year award for his active involvement, mentorship, and commitment to fellow members.
A special Liberty Legacy Award — created for 2026 in honor of the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence — was presented to George Washington’s Mount Vernon for its vital role in preserving and sharing the nation’s founding history while contributing to tourism and the local economy.
The Chamber congratulated all recipients and thanked sponsors, partners, and attendees for making the celebration a true showcase of local excellence.
