Alexandria to Host Town Hall on Potomac Interceptor Spill
Community Invited to Hear Updates from DC Water and Environmental Officials on the Sewer Pipeline Collapse, River Impacts, and Next Steps

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The City of Alexandria invites residents to attend a community Town Hall about the Potomac Interceptor collapse and sewage spill, including its impacts on the Potomac River and Alexandria’s waterfront.
The Town Hall will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, in the Nannie J. Lee Memorial Recreation Center Auditorium (1108 Jefferson St.). Community members may also participate virtually via Zoom.
Hosted in partnership with DC Water and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, the event will provide a comprehensive update on the Potomac Interceptor response, current system status, and next steps for emergency repair and long-term rehabilitation efforts.
Officials will discuss the spill’s impact on the river and Alexandria’s waterfront and will answer questions from residents.
How to Submit Questions
To allow panelists time to respond to as many questions as possible, attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance through the registration form. Online questions must be submitted by 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18.
Participants attending the event in person will be able to submit questions using a QR code, while virtual attendees can ask questions through Zoom.
For those unable to attend, a recording of the meeting will be posted afterward on the City’s YouTube channel.
