Alexandria, VA – Although not in Alexandria, locals are excited that Buc-ee’s is coming to Northern Virginia.

Although not in Alexandria, locals are excited that Buc-ee’s is coming to Stafford County, Virginia, just 38 miles away..

The Board of Supervisors formally approved the project, which will be situated right off Interstate 95 at Exit 140 (at the intersection of Courthouse Road and Austin Ridge Drive).

Drive Time & Route Details:Normal Drive Time: Under light traffic, the straight shot down I-95 South takes about 40 to 45 minutes.

Commute Traffic Impact: Heavy rush hour or weekend travel congestion on I-95 can easily double this travel time.

Alternative Transit: If you want to bypass traffic entirely, you can take the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) commuter train from Alexandria straight to the Brooke or Leeland Road stations in Stafford, which takes about 50 to 55 minutes. However, you would still need a short rideshare trip to reach the Exit 140 site from the platform.

The Texas-based chain will build a 74,000-square-foot convenience store, 120 fuel pumps, two-dozen electric vehicle charging stations, and more than 800 parking spaces on a 36-acre site between I-95 and Austin Ridge Road.

Buc-ee’s is not a truck stop — tractor-trailers are banned, and the retailer has agreed to make several roadway improvements, such as lane expansions and new traffic signals, to mitigate its impact.

Buc-ee’s is a friendly stopover for Interstate 95 travelers and locals. The growing chain, with more than 50 travel stations largely across the southern U.S., is known for its clean restrooms, in-house barbecue, wall of beef jerky, and its crunch caramel-coated corn puffs called Beaver Nuggets.
