Register for Alexandria’s Fall Senior Academy for Older Adults

Alexandria, VA – Senior Services of Alexandria is offering a free Fall Senior Academy session for Alexandria’s older adults (60+) to learn about how Alexandria operates and the services and programs available to older adults who live or work in the city.

The Senior Academy is a 4-week session that meets at various locations around the city including the Beatley Library, Police Headquarters, the Del Pepper Center (where City Council is residing until the City Hall renovation is completed), and at the Patrick Henry Recreation Center. The sessions will begin on Wednesday, September 9, and the subsequent sessions will take place on Thursday, September 17, 24, and October 1. All sessions are from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Participants will hear from city leaders including the Mayor, City Manager, Police and Fire Departments, and Sheriff’s Office, as well as City Departments and other nonprofit agencies. Some of the topics include an overview of how the city operates including its budget, overview of programs and services offered by the City Library system; Recreation Department; Division of Aging and Adult Services and the Office of Historic Alexandria. Each session is filled with valuable information for older adults.
