Alexandria, VA – Senior Services of Alexandria is kicking off its 2026-27 Speaker Series with a fun event that you won’t want to miss!

Staying active and engaged is an important part of living well at every age. Come discover new possibilities, make connections, and find inspiration for staying active, engaged, and thriving in the years ahead. Speakers include Cynthia Durakis DC, CFNMP of Willow Wellness Center, exploring “What’s the Difference Between Healthspan and Lifespan?” and how we can focus not just on living longer, but on living healthier as we age.

Kristy Huettner, Volunteer Program Coordinator with the Office of Historic Alexandria, will give us a look at the many exciting things happening in Historic Alexandria, including programs, events, volunteer, and other opportunities to experience our city’s rich history.

Lisa Reeves and Mylene Feiler of Salty Birds Wellness will talk about beginner-friendly birding, the wellness benefits of spending time outdoors, and how noticing birds can create connection, curiosity, and everyday adventure at any age.

The event is taking place on Wednesday, October 21, 10:30 am – Noon, at the Beatley Library, 5005 Duke Street.  It is a free event with light refreshments and plenty of parking.  We ask that you register either online by emailing [email protected] or call 703-836-4414, ext. 110, to make your reservation.

SSA looks forward to seeing you at the Library on October 21!
