Alexandria’s HalloWEIRD Market Is Bringing Spooky, Creepy and Goth Art to Del Ray

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Halloween is arriving early in Del Ray—and it is bringing ceramics, fiber art, jewelry, photography and a little goth flair with it.
Del Ray Artisans will hold its fifth annual HalloWEIRD Art Market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. The outdoor market is free, family-friendly and scheduled to happen rain or shine.
More than 40 local artists are listed for this year’s event, offering original work that ranges from spooky, creepy and crawly to the brighter side of fall—costumes, hot cider, hay rides and autumn colors.
A Full Field of Halloween-Inspired Art
The artist lineup spans ceramics, fiber, jewelry, mixed media, paper, photography and other handcrafted work. Booths will fill the Mount Vernon Recreation Center athletic fields at 2701 Commonwealth Ave., adjoining the Del Ray Artisans gallery at 2704 Mount Vernon Ave.
Visitors can also step inside the gallery for “Celebrating Hispanic Heritage: Voices Through Visuals,” an exhibition running through Sept. 26.
HalloWEIRD joins a long list of creative fall traditions in Del Ray. The Zebra has previously rounded up Halloween events across Alexandria, but this market puts local makers—and their strangest seasonal ideas—at center stage.
