Agenda: Alexandria Opens Season With Civic Engagement Panel
Agenda: Alexandria opens its new season Sept. 28 with a panel on civic engagement, government responsiveness and building public trust.
ALEXANDRIA — How does City government hear from residents—and what happens after they speak up?
That question will guide Agenda: Alexandria’s first program of the 2026–27 season, “Civic Engagement, Trust, Responsiveness, and an Open City Government,” on Monday, Sept. 28.
Former Agenda: Alexandria chair Rod Kuckro will moderate a panel featuring Alethea Predeoux, Alexandria’s deputy city manager; Erika Moore, Arlington County’s assistant county manager and director of communications and public engagement; Old Town journalist, author and podcaster Michael Pope; and Scott Corzine, president of the Alexandria Federation of Civic Associations.
The conversation will examine how local government responds to public concerns, communicates during contentious debates and gives residents a meaningful role before decisions are made.
Predeoux brings a career in public service, constituent advocacy and federal workforce policy to her role with the City. Before joining Alexandria, she served as chief of staff and director of congressional, legislative and intergovernmental affairs at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Her earlier work included advocacy for veterans’ health services and federal employees.
Moore, a former Northern Virginia journalist, has led Arlington County engagement efforts on budgets, elections, housing, planning and the County’s COVID-19 response. She now oversees communications and public engagement for the County.
Pope has reported for NPR, The New York Times and the Alexandria Gazette Packet. He hosts the Virginia Press Room podcast and previously chaired Agenda: Alexandria.
Corzine also serves on the Old Town Civic Association board. Professionally, he is a strategic advisor specializing in cybersecurity, board governance and regulatory compliance.
Allison Silberberg, communications chair for Agenda: Alexandria, said the season-opening event will help residents better understand how City government handles concerns, controversial issues and policy decisions.
Founded in 1998, Agenda: Alexandria is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that examines issues shaping life in the city without taking a position. Its eight annual public programs bring together differing viewpoints on topics including schools, housing, transportation, public safety, preservation and the City budget. Its longtime motto: “Taking a look at the issues without taking sides.”
The program will be held at the Minnie Howard Campus of Alexandria City High School, 3775 W. Braddock Road. A reception begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
