ALEXANDRIA, VA — Washington Wizards fans looking for Trae Young this Friday night may want to look toward the Old Town waterfront instead of Capital One Arena.

The four-time NBA All-Star is scheduled to host the “From the Point After Party” at Barca Pier & Wine Bar on Friday, Sept. 18, beginning at 9 p.m.

The Alexandria Brief first reported the Alexandria appearance, which is being presented by Crooked Pop, a beverage brand Young promotes. The brand has also been promoting the event through its social channels.

A Big Name on the Old Town Waterfront

Young is entering his first full season as one of the faces of the Washington Wizards. The team acquired him from Atlanta in January, and this summer he agreed to a four-year deal to remain in Washington. NBA.com reported the agreement in June.

When Washington acquired Young, Wizards General Manager Will Dawkins said the guard “plays an exciting brand of basketball” and praised the confidence and competitiveness he brings to the team, according to the team’s announcement.

Young has been an NBA All-Star four times and has built a reputation as one of the league’s most recognizable point guards.

Right on the River

The setting is about as Alexandria as a party can get. Barca Pier & Wine Bar, at 2 Pioneer Mill Way, is built over the Potomac at Robinson Landing and is known for its open-air pier, Spanish-Mediterranean small plates and waterfront views.

The Friday event begins at 9 p.m. and is for guests 21 and older. Reservations are available through Barca’s normal reservation system, although a waterfront event tied to an NBA star could make the evening busier than usual.
