Alexandria VA – Alexandria residents have an opportunity to make a lifesaving difference today while visiting one of Del Ray’s popular barbecue spots. Pork Barrel BBQ is hosting an Inova Blood Donor Services blood drive Friday, Oct. 9, from 1 to 6 p.m. The Inova Bloodmobile will be parked outside the restaurant at 2312 Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria.

With blood donations needed to help patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment and emergency care, local drives provide a convenient way for residents to give back to their community. The drive is coordinated by Inova Blood Donor Services, with Bill Blackburn serving as coordinator.

There may also be an extra incentive for donors. Participants are eligible for donor appreciation gifts and promotional offers, including entry into Inova’s October Smart Glasses giveaway raffle. Giveaway eligibility and terms may apply.

Want to donate? Check Inova’s mobile blood drive scheduling system for any remaining appointments. Residents can also contact Inova Blood Donor Services at 1-866-256-6372 to ask about availability.

Donors should bring a valid photo ID. Inova also recommends completing its Quick Pass pre-donation questionnaire on the day of the appointment to help streamline the check-in process. Donors should eat beforehand and drink plenty of water, following Inova’s preparation instructions.  First-time donors should check with the Inova Blood Donor Services eligibility guidance. Confirm eligibility before traveling to the bloodmobile

There are some appointments still available, but you can drop by to see if they can fit you in!

Whether you are a regular donor or considering donating for the first time, giving blood is a practical way to support patients and families throughout Northern Virginia.
