ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria voters will head to the polls Tuesday, November 3, with four relocated polling places and several public services operating on a different schedule.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone in line by 7 p.m. may vote. Voters should use their assigned polling place; the City’s elections website provides precinct information, sample ballots, and voter-status checks.

Four polling places have moved

  • Voters formerly assigned to the Blessed Sacrament Precinct should vote at Christ the Anglican Church, North Quaker, 1801 N. Quaker Lane.
  • Voters formerly assigned to the City Hall Precinct should vote at Lyles-Crouch Traditional Academy, 530 S. St. Asaph St. Follow signs for the Old Town South precinct.
  • Voters formerly assigned to the George Mason School Precinct should vote at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2911 Cameron Mills Road.
  • Voters formerly assigned to the View Alexandria Precinct should vote at Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 2800 Hope Way.

The ballot includes contests for U.S. Senate and Virginia’s 8th Congressional District, along with three proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution.

Identification and same-day registration

Poll workers will ask voters to show acceptable identification. A voter without acceptable ID may sign an ID Confirmation Statement and cast a regular ballot. A voter who neither presents ID nor signs the statement may cast a provisional ballot.

Residents who missed the regular registration deadline may register at the correct polling place on Election Day and cast a provisional ballot under Virginia’s same-day registration process.

What will be closed Tuesday?

Alexandria City Public Schools will have no classes. The General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and Court Service Unit will be closed. The Circuit Court and Clerk’s Office will be available only for emergency election-related matters.

Virginia DMV offices will also be closed. The Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center and Teen Wellness Center clinics will not open Tuesday. The Alexandria Law Library will be closed, although other City libraries are scheduled to operate normally. Most other City government offices will remain open.

Mail-ballot deadline

Voters may deposit mail ballots in ballot boxes at polling places from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The secure outdoor drop box at 132 N. Royal St. will also remain available until the 7 p.m. deadline.

The information comes from the City of Alexandria’s October 31 election checklist. Voters can confirm their polling place and check for last-minute changes at the City of Alexandria elections office.
