ALEXANDRIA, VA—Alexandria families and taxpayers have two opportunities Tuesday evening to speak directly to the School Board about school construction, budgets and other issues shaping the division’s future.

First, the board will hold a public hearing on the proposed FY 2028–2037 Capital Improvement Program budget from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the School Board Meeting Room at 1340 Braddock Place. The CIP is the school division’s long-range plan for major building projects, modernizations and capacity needs.

Residents who want to speak or submit written comments should use the instructions on ACPS’s public-comment page. ACPS says public-hearing remarks must address the CIP budget.

That same evening, the School Board is hosting “Let’s Talk ACPS,” a community town hall for students, staff, families and residents. ACPS’s dedicated event announcement lists the town hall for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with in-person and Zoom options. Registration allows participants to submit up to two questions in advance.

Suggested discussion areas include the capital and operating budgets, school modernizations, middle-school capacity, the transition to a new superintendent, state education funding and legislative advocacy.

A scheduling heads-up: The CIP hearing and town hall overlap. The current ACPS calendar also shows a slightly different town-hall window of 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. Anyone attending should check the registration confirmation or calendar again before Tuesday.

Families most interested in the construction budget may want to arrive for the 6 p.m. hearing, then stay for the broader conversation.
