ALEXANDRIA, VA — Follow King Street down to the Potomac for this year’s holiday tree lighting. Alexandria will kick off the season at Waterfront Park, 1 Prince St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21. The celebration is free and open to all ages, with festive music and a visit from Santa Claus.

Market Square, the ceremony’s longtime home, is closed for the City Hall and Market Square renovation. The city confirmed in its Nov. 4 construction update that several holiday events are moving while work is underway.
