Roof Leak Closes Duncan Branch Library Through Nov. 16

Del Ray branch expects to reopen Tuesday, Nov. 17, after emergency repairs.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The James M. Duncan Branch Library, 2501 Commonwealth Ave., is temporarily closed while crews repair damage from a roof leak.

In a notice issued Friday evening, Nov. 6, Alexandria Library and the City said the branch would be closed from Saturday, Nov. 7, through Monday, Nov. 16. Reopening is anticipated Tuesday, Nov. 17.

The work includes cleaning affected spaces, fixing the roof and replacing damaged materials. The closure affects a popular neighborhood library, so patrons who normally visit on weekends should plan to use another branch.

Readers can check Alexandria Library’s website for updated reopening information, branch hours and any changes to scheduled programs. The reopening date is an estimate and could change as repairs proceed.
