Alexandria High School Freshman Snags First Place at GMU Stock Market Game™ with Gains of almost 13%

Bishop Ireton’s Courtney Quinn Takes First Spot

Alexandria, VA – The George Mason University Region of the fall Stock Market Game announced on Monday, December 17 that Bishop Ireton student Courtney Quinn ’22 won 1st place with a portfolio value that finished 12.78% above the S & P 500 Growth Index. Out of 784 teams in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Courtney finished at # 16. She will be honored in May at the Economic Education Awards ceremony held at George Mason University.

The Stock Market Game™ is an online education program used to help teach math, social studies, business, economics, and language skills while learning about the stock market and how to invest wisely. Students in grades 4-12 participate in teams and manage a simulated investment portfolio. During each session, student teams compare the performance of their portfolios with other teams in Virginia and their region.
