ALEXANDRIA, VA – Since Alexandria businesses have been required to follow Executive Order 63, which mandates mask wearing indoors, most customers have followed suit. Some however, have not, leading to conflict.

Adrianne Griffith, Director of Marketing & Communications for the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership (AEDP), wrote in a statement, “The City of Alexandria recognizes that the global health pandemic is creating high tension situations for many businesses.”

To assist employees and owners in handling stress arising from particularly charged conflict, the city and AEDP will hold two two-hour sessions in conflict resolution. These virtual and free sessions are designed to teach employees how to respond in a respectful manner to customer emotions. The aim is to increase the likelihood of positive resolution.

The National Conflict Resolution Center will participate in the training. Session dates and times follow:

  • Mon., 10/19 at 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Tues.; 10/20 at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

To attend, register on Eventbrite HERE. Multiple people from the same business can attend.
