Environmental Nonprofit Keep Virginia Beautiful Kicks Off 2021 Grant Program
ALEXANDRIA, VA-During the entire month of June, the Richmond-based nonprofit Keep Virginia Beautiful will award grants for environmental improvement projects. That’s 35 grants in 30 days. Schools, businesses, service organizations, cities, and towns are all eligible for the 30 in 30 Green Grants Program.
“Our Green Grants Program is an opportunity for everyone,” said Mike Baum, Executive Director
of Keep Virginia Beautiful. “We consider grants ranging from restaurants that want to start their
own backyard gardens, to libraries that want to introduce programs to teach kids about
recycling, to nonprofits that need fluorescent vests to ensure safer community clean-ups. We’ve
provided these types of grants for the last decade and we’re really excited about the impact
they’ve had on communities and the environment.”
This year, KVB is adding five grants specific to diverse groups and undeserved populations. The organization, according to a press release, said they were inspired to include the new grants because the last year has put “diversity, equity, and inclusion” in the “national spotlight.”
There are four award categories: Community Beautification, Cigarette Litter Prevention, Litter Prevention, and Recycling. The grant program page indicates that links will be activated soon.
Awards will be announced through social media and on the KVB website in June.
This year’s sponsors are: Altria, Coca-Cola, WestRock, and Keep America Beautiful.
Since 2011, KVB has awarded $254,000 to 320 different projects across the state through this program.
