Help Feed the Hungry During National Day of Service on 9/11 Anniversary
ALEXANDRIA, VA – The anniversary of the 9/11 attacks is not only a day to remember but a day to help others. The federal government recognizes each Patriot Day as a national day of service.
In the Washington DC area, the nonprofit 9/11 Day is partnering with U.S. Hunger to feed the hungry by packing meals the Washington DC Meal Pack. This is just one of the 20 million good deeds that 9/11 Day wants to achieve. The deeds, according to a press release, are meant to “honor and remember 9/11 victims, first responders and others, as well as build unity and goodwill across our nation.”
Wave the Flag Sept. 7, Participate in Nationwide Event in Remembrance of 9/11
Alexandrians can participate by driving to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center at 801 Mt. Vernon Place NW on Saturday, Sept. 11. Meals will be packed in two-hour shifts beginning at 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Two Hundred Thousand meals are expected to be packed that day.

Note that proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required to participate. Masks must be warn at all times. Children over 12 can help but must register individually and provide proof of vaccination as well.
