Alexandria Black History Museum Hosting Annual Kwanzaa How to Workshop

Alexandria, VA  The Alexandria Black History Museum is presenting ts annual Alexandria Kwanzaa How-to Workshop virtually on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.

Learn how to do your own celebration as Cathy Riddick-Brown, Linda Haughton, Keith Calhoun, Malory Todd, and Lillian S. Patterson show you the origins, concepts, practices, and foods of Kwanzaa. You will learn about the seven Kwanzaa principles and symbols. Our presenters will teach you easy crafts, activities and give you demonstrations on how to make Groundnut Stew for your Kwanzaa feast – things to discover and enchant for every age.  Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the presenters at the end of the workshop.

Begin the day earlier hearing the Kwanzaa story as the Alexandria Black History Museum and the Alexandria Library presents its monthly program  Story Time for Little Historians at 10:00 a.m., Story Time for Little Historians at 10:00 a.m., just before the Kwanzaa Workshop. Please register for Story Time on the Alexandria Library website using this link to sign up.

Debby Critchley has been an integral part of The Zebra almost from the very beginning by taking on the mantle of Food Editor. Born in Chicago, her parents help develop her palate by exposing her to a variety of cuisines from Chinese to Spanish, French, German, and more. Debby earned her B.A. at Case Western Reserve University and her M.S. from University of Nebraska. She moved to the DMV in 1981.
