Alexandria's New Hot Spot in North Old Town Has It All Including Parking
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Wondering where to go on Saturday, December 2, after seeing Santa and all the colorful participants at the 52nd Annual Scottish Walk Parade in Old Town Alexandria?
The hot spot this year is to head to Canal Center on the Alexandria waterfront for the Holiday Art Mart and Boat Parade Watch Party where you can see the boat parade at 5, and listen to live music by the Yellow Dot Jazz Quartet while shopping and eating street food.
“I was thinking about all the people who want to go to the boat parade, and I think we are the only place in town that will have food vendors and amazing views, plus a jazz quartet and artists—all in one place,” says Pat Miller, one of the organizers.
From 3 to 9 p.m., Canal Center Events is hosting a holiday art mart featuring local artist booths offering a gamut of mediums including glass, photography, drawings, pottery, vintage goods and more.

Celebrated spray paint artist Caleb Taliaferro will be also be on site working live, creating a one-of-a kind street mural at the venue. Taliaferro grew up in Northern Virginia and attended local schools but now lives in Idaho where he has recently completed a 400 square foot mural in Boise that he says is “an experience” to behold.
“We are so excited to bring Caleb back to Alexandria to do this mural,” according to Miller. “Everyone should come to Canal Center to watch the Alexandria Parade of Boats on Saturday and spend some time watching Caleb spray paint his mural and walk through and visit the art and food vendors.”
Parking is available at Canal Center for $5.00.
