The Alexandria Library Trash Trekker Group Helps Beautify Alexandria Streets and Library Grounds
By Sara Kohn, ABC and Megan Zimmerman, Alexandria Library
Alexandria, VA – The Alexandria Library has a group of “Trash Trekkers” that meet once a month to clean up areas around the City’s libraries. If you are disturbed by seeing trash on the sidewalks and streets of this beautiful city; if the sight of plastic bags and fast food cups floating down our gutters into the streams concerns you; if seeing one more discarded plastic water bottle on its way to our majestic Potomac River makes you want to scream; if you’ve asked yourself “What can I do?”—please join this group as they make a difference and help beautify this wonderful place we call home. So, lace up your walking shoes and volunteer with your local library to keep our streets—and the beings who live here—healthy!
Register on Alexlibraryva.org/events and search for “Events.” The library provides clean-up supplies and safety vests. Email Megan at [email protected] with questions or for more information.
