Spring Benefit Celebrated 40 years
Alexandria, VA – It was a joyful and dressy celebration of childhood education high above the cityscape on the rooftop of ALX Community when the Child & Family Network Centers threw their annual Spring Bash this year.
Congratulations to Executive Director Barbara McLaughlin and her hardworking team, board of directors and volunteers. Kudos to Drew Carroll for emceeing the “Paddle Raise.”
“Our mission is to prepare and empower children and families for success in school and life,” passionately stated McLaughlin, underscoring the profound impact of their work.
Started by a group of mothers living in the Charles Houston Area of Alexandria in 1984, CFNC is the ONLY Alexandria, Virginia nonprofit providing free, high-quality, multilingual preschool, and family support for our area’s community based on their income. “Today we’re teaching 139 of Alexandria’s kids–providing early education and family support services,” she added.
“It was a fabulous event,” shared Tara Rethore on social media the next day. “Rain didn’t dampen the joy of the evening and celebration of 40 years of lasting impact. Never deviating from our mission – provide free, high-quality early childhood education to under-resourced communities.”
