Learn Why and How to Plant Native Plants in Your Garden

Alexandria, VA – Do you want to know why it is important to incorporate more native plants into your garden? How can you do this practically and affordably? Are there gardening practices to include in your Fall cleanup that will help encourage a healthy local ecosystem?

The Alexandria Beautification Commission is partnering with the Kate Waller Barrett Branch Library to offer a seminar by Master Gardener Janet Entwistle on practical ways to improve our local ecosystem by planting native plants and simple garden maintenance routines. Ms. Entwistle will discuss the importance of biodiversity in our backyards and where to find further resources and information on this topic. Details on the seminar are below:

Date and Time:  July 27, 11:00 am to 1:30 pm.
Location: Kate Waller Barrett Branch Library, 717 Queen Street, second floor.
Registration:  Please register on the library’s website or just stop by on July 27 at noon! The seminar will be recorded and accessed on the Library’s Sustainability YouTube Channel if you cannot attend.
