Alexandria, VA – A Thanksgiving morning tradition, the 49th annual Alexandria Turkey Trot returns to the streets of Del Ray on Thanksgiving morning.

The five-mile run/walk starts at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 28, and goes through the heart of Del Ray, starting and ending at George Washington Middle School. This fast, flat, USATF-certified course is the Mid-Atlantic’s premiere Turkey Trot, featuring over 6,000 runners, including some of the elite runners on the East Coast. Dogs and strollers are welcome and have their own starting area.

“The Turkey Trot is one of our favorite holiday traditions in Del Ray,” says Dr. Lauren Fisher, president of the Del Ray Business Association. “It’s amazing seeing friends, neighbors, and generations of families running together and giving back to those in need.”

In the spirit of the holiday, runners and spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support ALIVE!, the oldest and largest private safety net in the City of Alexandria dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger.
