ALEXANDRIA, VA — Flashing lights, candy buckets, and capes galore lit up the Alexandria Police Department’s headquarters last night as APD and its public safety partners hosted the annual Public Safety Trunk-or-Treat.

From princesses and superheroes to tiny dinosaurs and a family of Avengers, the creativity was off the charts. Kids got to explore real-life public safety vehicles — including APD’s BearCat, a police motorcycle, and a shiny red fire truck — while collecting candy from decorated trunks and high-fiving Alexandria’s finest.

Officers, firefighters, deputies, and dispatchers joined forces for the Halloween-style celebration, designed to build friendships and foster trust between public safety agencies and the community they serve. The evening offered free family fun in a safe, welcoming setting where kids could see the human side of the badge — and the sweet side, too.

The Alexandria Police Foundation helped make the event possible, continuing its support for community programs that strengthen the bond between residents and first responders.

It was all treats, no tricks — just laughter, lights, and lasting connections at this much-loved Alexandria tradition.
