Alexandria, VA – As always, the Carpenter’s Cookoff did not disappoint attendees. There were dozens of auction and silent auction items that made voting and bidding difficult to decide on. The restaurants, pop-ups, and caterers vied for the popular and judge’s votes. In a first, both the judges and people’s choices were in agreement. Congratulations to Ruby’s Jamaican Kitchen for winning the Savory item vote, and kudos to a new caterer, Pop-Up Kitchen, which won both the Sweet item and Kids’ Choice awards.

Most importantly, all proceeds from this event go toward funding Carpenter’s Shelter’s programs and services. Carpenter’s Shelter supports people at risk of and experiencing homelessness to achieve sustainable independence through shelter and housing placement, guidance, education, and advocacy.
