Alexandria Expands Tick Prevention Campaign with Free Tools and Events

Packaging for a Tick Check tick removal card, a wallet-sized tool designed to safely remove ticks from people or pets, with illustrated instructions and icons showing it can also remove splinters and thorns.

Alexandria, VA – The Alexandria Health Department is expanding its “Don’t Let Ticks Stick” campaign with free tick remover tools (while supplies last) and upcoming “Tick Talk” sessions:

  • May 30 at Mount Vernon Recreation Center
  • June 27 at Charles Houston Recreation Center

Officials urge simple prevention—use repellent, avoid tall grass, check for ticks, and remove them promptly.

With tick activity rising, residents are encouraged to take advantage of these free resources.

Don’t forget pets—dogs can bring ticks indoors after even a short walk.
