Closet Refresh, Personal Thrifter, Shop Your Closet: Transform Your Wardrobe Sustainably

By Stephanie Fernandez, Thrift the District
Alexandria, VA – At Thrift the District, Stephanie helps you build a wardrobe that feels like you — by using what you already own and finding pieces from a secondhand marketplace.
She offers three core services, and most clients end up doing some combination of all three depending on where they are in their sustainable style journey:
Closet Refresh is where she starts for most people. She goes through everything you own with you — pulling things out, trying things on, and seeing what’s actually there. Most people are surprised by how much they already have. She helps you let go of what no longer fits your life, and rediscover pieces you forgot you loved.
Personal Thrifter is for when there are real gaps in your wardrobe. Before she ever sets foot in a thrift store, she asks about your style, your lifestyle, your sizes, and your budget. After you create a thrift list together, she goes hunting for you — sourcing secondhand pieces that are intentional, high quality, and aligned with your aesthetic. She brings everything to your home to try things on, and you only keep what you love.
Shop Your Closet is where she helps you style what’s left from your kept pieces — mixing, layering, and experimenting until you’ve built a collection of outfits that make sense for who you are right now. She helps you style the new-to-you things she thrifted and reimagines fresh ways to wear things you haven’t touched in years. Then she snaps a photo of every winning look so you have a personal lookbook to reference on your phone when it’s time to get dressed.
What ties it all together is her strong belief that getting dressed shouldn’t feel like a chore, and that you don’t need a full closet of new things to feel confident and put-together. Secondhand clothing is a powerful tool for self-expression — and when we use what already exists, we’re making a choice that’s good for us and for the planet.
