Happening Now in Del Ray: Free Music Festival Supports Wilderness Kids Alexandria Until 4 P.M.

DEL RAY, ALEXANDRIA, SEPT. 27, 2026 — Music is playing at Pat Miller Square this afternoon for the Wilderness Kids Alexandria Music Festival, a free community gathering that runs until 4 p.m. Sunday. If you are nearby, stop in for a set and learn about the local organization behind it.

The event poster lists performances by Walkaways, Fork in the Road, the Verny Varela Band, Bad Dates and the Vaughn Ambrose Trio. Crafts, games and a raffle are also advertised. What is Wilderness Kids Alexandria?

Wilderness Kids Alexandria provides experiences in nature for teenagers from under-resourced families and underserved communities in the city. Its programs bring young people outside after school, on weekend outings and on summer trips. According to the organization, those activities can include exploring local parks, hiking, paddling, climbing and camping. The group partners with Alexandria City Public Schools for its middle school after-school program.
