ALEXANDRIA, VA — Heading across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge tonight? Allow extra time: multiple drawbridge openings for maintenance are scheduled between 10 p.m. Thursday, October 8, and 5 a.m. Friday, October 9.

Drivers on the Capital Beltway should expect intermittent traffic stops during that window, according to ALXnow’s report on the City of Alexandria’s bridge alert.

The overnight schedule calls for repeated openings, rather than one continuous seven-hour closure. If your plans take you between Alexandria and Maryland late tonight or early Friday, build some flexibility into your trip.
