Alexandria VA – Old Town Alexandria is getting a taste of South Korea’s café culture as Twosome Place prepares to celebrate the grand opening of its first U.S. location at 404 King St. on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Zebra first announced their upcoming opening in the September 2026 issue.

The celebration runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with giveaways, cake and coffee samples, and a chance to watch baristas demonstrate latte art. The first 100 guests will receive a complimentary Twosome Place tote bag. From 10 a.m. to noon, visitors can try their luck at a capsule-toy giveaway featuring prizes and surprises. Founded in Seoul’s Sinchon neighborhood in 2002, Twosome Place has grown into one of South Korea’s largest café chains, with approximately 1,700 locations. Its name reflects the pairing of coffee and dessert, a philosophy captured in its brand messages, “DEAREST CAKE” and “ALWAYS COFFEE.”

Cakes Take Center Stage

Desserts are a major draw at Twosome Place, which offers cakes whole or by the slice. Two signature favorites are its Strawberry Chocolate Cream Cake featuring strawberries, three layers of chocolate cake, chocolate cream, crunchy chocolate pearls and fresh strawberries, the Ice Box Cake, a chilled combination of crisp chocolate cookies layered with whipped cream and mascarpone, and the Injeolmi made with a chocolate sponge layered with nutty roasted soybean cream, and chewy rice cake pieces.

The menu also includes savory choices such as sandwiches, paninis and salads, alongside coffee and other beverages. The Bulgogi bibimbowl is filled with bulgogi beef, egg, mesclun, carrots, couscous, pumpkin, black bean, zucchini, grilled mushrooms, and kale with a choice of gochujang aioli or Asian dressing. Other savory offerings include the Brioche K-Toast with bulgogi, egg, cheddar, red onion, leaf lettuce, and chipotle mayo. The Seoul Spicy Chicken Panini is made with multigrain bread, chicken, Colby jack, mozzarella, and topped with a spicy chicken sauce.

Twosome Place joins Life Alive Organic Café and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as food-and-beverage tenants at the 404 King St. location. Twosome Place and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream are both neighboring tenants with a franchise partnership involving Van Leeuwen’s expansion into South Korea.
